Savor Olympic Peninsula’s Washington Seafood

“Fresh seafood and time spent with family are what I think about when I think about the Southwest corner of the Loop. My Grandparents retired to Westport and I can tell you, the charter fishing fleet is amazing! Leave the docks as the sun rises and return in the afternoon with enough fresh fish to stock a freezer. As a child, I spent many hours razor-clamming at Moclips and Ocean Shores where we had a small cabin. I have photos of my daughter as a toddler “helping” her dad dig for razor clams. The shelf above my kitchen sink is crowded with shells and rocks we’ve beach-combed over the years. Visit the Olympic Peninsula and make some memories.” – Lisa Martin – co-owner, Olympic Cellars Winery and President Olympic Culinary Loop

Corks, Crab and Cheese

Corks, Crab and Cheese is a favorite combo in the Sea Glass Grill at Westport Winery Garden Resort featuring locally caught Dungeness crab and Cougar Gold cheese sauce on rotini pasta. The Sea Grant Sandwich is also a coastal favorite with Tillamook cheddar melted on Dungeness crab and cream cheese on grilled sourdough and served with homemade clam chowder. For those wanting a true classic the Crab Louie is heaped with fresh greens, Dungeness crab salad, hard boiled eggs, tomatoes and the house made spicy thousand island dressing. Westport Winery and the Sea Glass Grill are open daily 11 to 6. Call 360-648-2224 for reservations.

Mosquito Fleet Winery releases - 2016 "RESERVE" 34 Cabernet Sauvignon

With only 50 cases available, we recommend a visit to the Mosquito Fleet tasting room soon to pickup a bottle to enjoy now, or tuck away for that special event 10-20 years from now. 93 Points - by Jeb Dunnuck Including 1% Cabernet Franc and 1% Merlot, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon R-34 comes all from the Pepper Bridge Vineyard outside of Walla Walla and spent 34 months in new French oak. Its ruby/plum hue is followed by a terrific bouquet of ripe red and black currants, toasted spices, dried tobacco and baking chocolate. Pure, medium to full-bodied and incredibly elegant, it has no hard edges, ripe tannins and a great finish. It's beautifully done, and while it's already drinking brilliantly, it should evolve for 15-20 years if you're so inclined. It's unquestionably the finest wine we've tasted from this estate. Hurry in today!
